American Medical Collection Agency

INFORMATION ABOUT THE COMPANY

The Company was a debt collection agency. Earlier this year, the Company discovered its computer systems had been breached, and, beginning June 6th, 2019, it mailed Notice of Data Breach letters to over 7 million persons whose information may have been unlawfully accessed in the breach.

As a consequence of the data breach and the resulting fallout, the Company filed for protection under the federal bankruptcy laws. As part of the bankruptcy process, anyone with claims against the Company they wish to pursue must complete a "proof of claim" form and have until November 18, 2019 to submit a proof of claim for the Bankruptcy Court's consideration.

The process for filing the proof of claim with the bankruptcy court is separate and apart from the breach notice process. Just because you received a notice of data breach does not mean that you necessarily have a claim against the Company, and it is possible to have a claim against the Company without having received a notice.

TO FILE A CLAIM WITH THE BANKRUPTCY COURT, YOU MUST FILL OUT A PROOF OF CLAIM DESCRIBING YOUR CLAIM AND SUBMIT IT BY NOVEMBER 18, 2019 or any potential claim will be barred.
